Set the cavalry in motion!  The spring campaign is about to kick-off!

Even if Spring did not bring warmth, Rudely Stamp’d will bring some heat with TWO NEW ACTS for their play “Now We Stand By Each Other Always.”

Debuting in September 2018, our production of Now We Stand By Each Other Always has featured one act set in March 1865 in City Point, Virginia.  After more than half a dozen performances, with more booked into March 2020, and critical acclaim, we have decided to build on our success with acts set in Vicksburg, Mississippi and Cincinnati, Ohio.

The premiere of our new three act production will be in Pavilion, NY, on June 19th at the United Methodist Church, 11115 East Park  St., and is being sponsored by the Genesee Valley Civil War Roundtable.  The show begins at 6:30 PM.  Admission is free and open to the public, but donations to the roundtable are encouraged.  The show will be outside, weather permitting.  Folks are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.  In case of inclement weather, the show will be inside the church.

Just a few days later on June 22nd we will perform at the Buffalo-Niagara Heritage Village,  3755 Tonawanda Creek Road, Amherst.  Show begins at 4:00 PM.  Admission is $12.00.  The show will be outside, weather permitting.  Otherwise, it will be in the ballroom inside the museum.  Folks are encouraged to bring lawn chairs for an outdoor performance.  Heritage Village’s School of the Soldier program (10:00 am to 3:00 pm) and chicken BBQ dinner (3:00 to 4:00 pm) also being held June 22nd.

Prior to the play performance, attendees are invited to join us for an optional chicken dinner from 3:00 to 4:00 pm. Chicken dinners are $10 each and can be reserved when purchasing tickets for Now We Stand by Each Other Always. Chicken dinners are pre-pay only and orders must be received with Now We Stand by Each Other Always ticket purchases. Walk-in dinner orders are not available.

Our new Act I is set in June 1863; Grant and Sherman meet during the siege of Vicksburg to discuss military affairs just weeks before the surrender of the Gibraltar of the West.  Act II takes place in March 1864 in Cincinnati, Ohio; Grant has recently been promoted to Lt. General and is now commander-in-chief of all Union armies.  The generals meet to map out the Atlanta and Overland Campaigns. Act III takes place at City Point, VA – this is the act which we have performed to date.

The three acts together provide a nice arc to the story of the friendship between Grant and Sherman and gives the audience a fuller idea of how it developed.  Moreover, folks will get a good sense of how the pair’s view of the war – and how to fight it – evolved over this crucial two year period.
