Now We Stand By Each Other Always

Written and directed by Derek Maxfield.

Featuring Derek Maxfield as General Ulysses S. Grant and Dan Snyder as General William Tecumseh Sherman, this is a historical docudrama in three acts, each featuring a fictionalized conversation between the two generals at key points during the American Civil War. Evolving over time, the play has been performed including all three acts, or just one or two as needed for the nature of the performance.

In March of 2019, we performed Now We Stand By Each Other Always for an audience of over 600 and introduced Jess Maxfield into the role of Julia Grant. In 2023, following the retirement of Tracy Ford from his role as General Sherman, the play was reworked into a version of Grant on the Eve of Victory.

In September 2024, we launched the revival of the original three-act Now We Stand By Each Other Always with the addition of Dan Snyder to the role of General Sherman. This is the current version of the play and is available to be booked for local and national performances.

Grant on the Eve of Victory

Written and directed by Derek Maxfield.

Featuring Derek Maxfield as General Ulysses S. Grant and Jess Maxfield as New York World reporter George Alfred Townsend, Grant on the Eve of Victory portrays an end of war interview encapsulating Grant’s experiences in the Western theater of the Civil War, his views on General Sherman, President Lincoln, and other key figures, and his thinking as he sits on the precipice of the war’s conclusion.

This play is still running and available to book locally and nationally.

Brothers at Odds: The Brisbane Story

Written and directed by Derek Maxfield.

In collaboration with the Genesee County Landmark Society and GOART!, Brothers at Odds told the story of the Brisbane family of Batavia, NY in an effort to raise awareness for the fate of the Brisbane Mansion after it was vacated by the Batavia Police Department in 2022.

Running for three performances only in June 2022, this play featured Derek Maxfield as the stodgy businessman George Brisbane, Quincy Maxfield as his wife Sarah, and Dan Snyder as George’s idealistic and eccentric brother Albert Brisbane. The play centered on George and Sarah as they are visited by General Emory Upton (played by Michael Gosselin) and later by Albert. The dialogue between the diametrically opposed brothers highlighted the contributions of the Brisbane family to Batavia’s history and invited the audience to wonder, as the characters did, what will become of their old home.
